Oh no peeps are going to question this one as well lol, there’s a real King Zog and also a fictitious King Zog but Zog is spelt with an accent King Zøg.

Hilde
Member
Hilde

Obviously they meant the REAL King Zog.

Joe

I did nearly put Dreamland

Stuart

I knew todays answer. Not sure why but I knew it but I said it straightway

Billy

Billy

It’s unreal as I guess it right away also.

purplevamp

Today’s answer is a little tricky because there is an actress that has won more than 5. I went with the one who has won exactly five though.

STEVEN
Member
STEVEN

Yeah, another dodgy question!!! Yawn! 5 isnt the record, 9 is the record!

Andrew
Member
Andrew

The answer I found says she was awarded nine too. As a singer and director, maybe they weren’t all for acting though.
Edit – Having read her wikipedia page, she has had worst supporting actress, worst screen couple, worst actress of the decade and worst actress of the century too!

Billy
Member
Billy

I think its 9 nominations maybe

Hilde
Member
Hilde

So why go with the one that won exactly 5 when there’s one with more than 5?

purplevamp
Member
purplevamp

I put Paris Hilton as she has won 5. Madonna has won 9.

Heather10
Member
Heather10

I put Madonna from the info I found yesterday, however looking today I have found further info which contradicts the article I read yesterday and says Madge has 9 and Paris has 5

Wendy

I got it wrong again, i put Pia Zadora. Doh!!

For the largest lake in the world question, I gave the answer of the Caspian Sea (which is also known as a lake) and it has an ‘asp’ in the answer so could that be considered correct as it is often considered the largest lake in the world?

Heather10
Member
Heather10

That was one of the answers I found, I can’t actually remember what I put now but didn’t put the Caspian sea but I think it should be taken as a correct answer

tracy
Member
tracy

that is what I put, the answer The Great Bear Lake never came up on the Google search, the biggest was The Caspian Sea.

Wendy
Member
Wendy

Ooppss i got this one wrong too, i put Lake Baikal (seals) – not doing well this month but never mind 😄

Hi Jane, I did exactly the same, even down to putting Asp as the animal! Please Daniel can you decide if our answers are acceptable Thanks, Christine.

Hilde
Member
Hilde

Caspian Sea is the one that comes up on top on Google. However, if you scrolled down a bit there was a link which said ’10 largest lakes in the world’. I clicked on that and took the first one that had an animal in the name. I think it was on nr. 3 or 4 in the list.

David
Member
David

Yes there are a couple. The bigger one is a species of animal so I have gone for the smaller one which is the main animal

Stuart
Member
Stuart

I didn’t know todays answer and even then I had to do some research around the name.

Could be contentious again?

Heather10
Member
Heather10

I agree. I found 2 answers, pretty sure I chose the correct one, however the other one was in a list a bit further down Google

Stuart
Member
Stuart

It appears I put the wrong one of the 2 I was thinking of

Wendy

This one is tricky, hope my answer is correct

Todays answer (summer Olympics) is a surprising one, I will be sure to store that little bit of info in my memory, it’s the sort of thing that will come up in a quiz, and I can pretend to be far more knowledgeable than I really am!

Wendy

Sorry Andrew, i was meant to give you an up vote and accidentally pressed the -, cause i totally agree with you on your comment it sure is a good quiz question . 👍Daniel is there any way you could change my vote as i feel terrible.

Andrew

Don’t worry about it Wendy, no offence taken. Thank you for explaining though. I don’t usually take any notice of down votes, you will never be able to please all the people all the time.

Sounds the same as Jazeera….hope they’re accepted.

I think Daniel will accept all phonetically similar words. As Arabic has its own alphabet, who can say what is the ‘correct’ spelling in English??? He’s always very easy going about spelling – except for anagrams 🤣 🤣

Peter

Peter

I can see the Arabic Word for Island being another contencious one as I can find a few variations.

Susan
Member
Susan

Yes, I wouldn’t exactly say they are well known. Well known is used very broadly as if the word was well known, no-one would be commenting!

Wendy
Member
Wendy

I have put the well known one, which is one word, yes there are a few varients

Hilde

Hilde

Actually the word is well known from the news though written differently on the news.

I don’t see a reply saying that Fotia is an acceptable answer to Greek word for fire. Can we have a ruling – you didn’t say Ancient Greek but took the Ancient Greek word Pyro as correct where as Greek Word Fotia should be the correct answer ??

Wendy
Member
Wendy

pyro- comes from Greek, where it has the meaning “fire, heat, high temperature”:pyromania, pyrotechnics.

Peter
Member
Peter

I agree with the others you didn’t say ANCIENT GREEK so FOTIA is Greek for Fire and should be accepted

tracy
Member
tracy

i also put Fotia

Stacy
Member
Stacy

so should φωτιά be accepted

Hilde
Member
Hilde

I used Google translate thinking it would give me the normal translation and it still said FOTIA so that is what I put. I don’t speak Greek. How else would I know it if not for Google translate. Hope it’s accepted.

Billy
Member
Billy

I put Fotia or Pyro as Fotia is modern Greek.
Will my answer be accepted.

hornetcarp
Member
hornetcarp

i put fotia as that came up multiple times on google search!
