February 2026 – Fact or Fiction – Win £10

This Month’s Winner Is…
Mary
DOB: 22/04/1991
[Not Claimed]

Every day you will see an interesting quote or statement, and your challenge is to decide whether it is fact or fiction. Some will sound unbelievable but be completely true, while others may seem realistic but are actually made up. A brand new true or false style challenge awaits you daily.

All you need to do is choose whether the statement is true or false. If you get it right, you will earn 2 entries into the prize draw. Even if your answer is not correct, you will still receive 1 entry just for taking part. Just answer ‘Fact’ or ‘Fiction’ when being asked ‘Is that true?’. At the end of the month, all entries will be pooled together, and one lucky winner will be drawn at random.

The competition started on 1st February 2026 and runs until the end of the month. The final question will be posted on 28th February 2026, with the winner announced here on 1st March 2026. The winner will then have 24 hours to claim their £10 cash prize. If the prize is not claimed by 11am on 2nd March 2026, it will be forfeited, and no late claims will be accepted.

Well done Mary

Placental mammals potentially existed for a short time during the Cretaceous Period. Humans did not. Be careful relying on AI and articles without fact-checking their sources to prevent the spread of misinformation.

With regards to the dinosaur question i found this from the BBC website dated June 2023

Now researchers at the University of Bristol and the University of Fribourg in Switzerland say they have found evidence that human ancestors did briefly live at the same time as the dinosaurs.

So I put True for my answer.

Member
Linda

yes, this is something we were always taught, there was a very brief period where this occurred

Member
Hilde

Google AI told me that we are still living with dinosaurs as birds are considered evolved dinosaurs so it told me the answer was both fact and fiction. I put fiction though.

Member
Hilde

Checked about dinosaurs with Gemini. AI said both fact and fiction depending on the type of dinosaur. I did choose one as an answer and not both.

Wow, I got that wrong about Venus (I’m determined not to look any of these up and cheat!) but happy to really, it’s always interesting to learn new things – a lot of these have been quite obvious but others have been really good, an enjoyable game overall and the other one is as well because I love word games, so once again thank you to Daniel for all his hard work in setting these things up (and marking them himself which is amazing) 👏☺️

I also checked, and the answer was definitely 3,800 years. If the question had said “almost 4000 years”, that would have been OK; but it was definitely not 4,000 years, and an error of two centuries is hardly insignificant!

Member
Jackie

Agreed. Not even 3881 (the highest I can calculate it to) is 4000. It was a very specific question.

Member
Jackie

The 18th (Pyramid) is not true. It was the tallest for 3800 years, when it was beaten by Lincoln Cathedral, but that is not 4000 years.

Member
Hilde

I checked with google and it said it’s usually rounded up so to 4000 rather than say 3800.

Member
Jackie

Well, there you have it; rounded up to, not equal to. I rest my case!!

I nearly missed it all yesterday, I was asked to login, which I did, and on my first attempt a message came up in red saying account locked due to 3 failed attempts, try again in three hours!!! This was at 11pm last night. Has this happened to anyone else? Must admit its got me concerned.

Member
Hilde

You still had 12 hours to put an answer though after 11pm.

Member
Wendy

Yes, once i remembered at 10.30 the following day.

Member
tracy

yes but sometimes people are busy and not have a chance to log in before 11am the next day.

Member
Hilde

It takes 2 min..

Member
Wendy

@hilde – i go to bed at 11pm, get up at 6am and work, just happened to rememer at 10.30am about being locked out of my account, if i hadnt remembered i would have missed it. And i surely wasnt going to set an alarm fot 3.00am to try and access my account.

@stuart – as there has been issues i will let it go, if it happens again i will email Daniel, thank you for letting me know 👍

Member
tracy

Yes I have been locked out of my account a few times, it usually happens when I try logging in on another device when I am having problems with the internet connection and can only log on using my tablet, same Wi-Fi, or my phone using my mobile data when the Wi-Fi is not playing.

Member
Wendy

Ahhh right. I always use my phone nothing else, oh well see if it happens again.

Yes, im very busy during the day and only check about 10.30 to 11pm before going to sleep so i did nearly forget 🙂

Member
Stuart

Yes.

I think Free Birthday Lottery has been experiencing some issues

Email Daniel if you are concerned

Jackie

I missed two days.TWO Days!! Yes, it was a busy weekend, but honestly, what’s wrong with me?

Member
Alison

You need to get your priorities right! No more late nights for you! 🤣🤣

Member
Jackie

Yeah, OK; that might not have helped!

Member
Norma

Is anyone asked to log in every day?

Member
Jackie

Not every day but far more often than I used to be asked.

Member
Stuart

I log out everyday, you should never stay logged into anything its a security/identity risk

Member
Sally

@Stuart – Certainly if you’re using a shared computer or phone they say that, or definitely if you’re using a public Wi-Fi but apart from things like banking websites just in case your phone gets nicked while you’re logged in (though if it’s anything like TSB, you’ll get logged out anyway before you’ve hardly had a chance to look at your statement!), if you’re using your own device I really can’t possibly see any harm in staying logged in to this website or others like it 🤔 If you’re able to of course…I can’t say I’ve been having the problems… Read more »

As with what Sally as written, I am the only user of my laptop it is connected to a secure server that is not public so I am not worried about staying logged in.

Member
tracy

Not every day but it happens every now and then, like Jackie it is more now than it used to be. It doesn’t usually cause any problems though.

Hilde

Some people have the memory of a gold fish.. people say.. or an elephant sometimes.. I’m the latter LOL

I have, your not alone Andrew 🤣

Member
Andrew

How many of us try to write the answer in the “Message” bar below the “Is that true” bar? I have done it every day so far.

Member
Hilde

I have not LOL

Member
Khadija

I haven’t as well. lol. But it’s easy enough for anyone to do that.

Member
Julie

I have done all 4 days, 🥴🥴

Member
DivitLad

lol was just gonna post that, been doing it since day 1 lol

Member
GillP

So have I, then wonder why I cannot see my answer when I look up to the screen.

Member
Heather10

I’ve been writing true or false because the competition wording says is it true then I check yesterday and it says fact it fiction. I hope Daniel accepts our answers as in true =fact and false = fiction

Member
Wendy

@heather10 – Daniel replied to someone else asing the same, ive copied it below

Hi krispii. Thanks for your question. It doesn’t matter, either Yes/No or Fact/Fiction. Good luck! Daniel

Member
tracy

I have tried that a few times lol

Member
Sally

Hahaha I just did that for the first time, and then scrolled down to the comments and saw this – so glad I’m not alone! Thank you Andrew 😄

Member
krispii

Quick question for clarity – the text above says to answer ‘Yes’ or ‘No’, but yesterday’s answer shows ‘Fact’
Which is preferred please?

Member
Stuart

It says Fiction 🤣😁😂

But I put ‘No’ as my answer as i had the same thought and read the description again

Member
krispii

My bad 🤣😁😂

Member
DivitLad

I’ve been putting true and false 🙂

Member
tracy

I don’t think it matters how you answer as long as it is the right one like no, fake, false, true, yes, fact or fiction.

Member
STEVEN

Answer the question at the bottom of the picture.
IS THAT TRUE? So a Yes or No answer.

Member
Jackie

I see the instructions have now changed, and we are going with ‘Fact’ or ‘Fiction’.
I didn’t notice that in time for tonight, not that the actual word used matters, it seems.

Member
tracy

As Daniel has stated it doesn’t matter which way you answer true, fact, yes or false, fake, no, providing it is the right answer.

Member
tracy

Congratulations to last months winners from both games. Good luck to everyone on this site for February’s games.
