October 2025 – Headline or Hoax – Win £10

This Month’s Winner Is…
Katy29
DOB: 29/03/1972
[Claimed]

Every day you’ll see a shocking newspaper headline. Can you tell if it’s the real deal or a clever hoax? Some may seem far too outrageous to believe, yet they might have actually happened. A brand-new headline challenge awaits you daily.

You just need to answer with either ‘Real’ or ‘Hoax’. If you guess correctly, you’ll earn 2 entries into the prize draw. Even if you don’t get it right, you’ll still receive 1 entry just for taking part. At the end of the month, all entries will be pooled together, and one lucky winner will be drawn at random.

The competition started on 1st October 2025 and runs until the end of the month. The final question will be posted on 31st October 2025, with the winner announced here on 1st November 2025. The winner will then have 24 hours to claim their £10 cash prize. If the prize is not claimed by 11am on 2nd November 2025, it will be forfeited, and no late claims will be accepted.

How is The Onion a news source for the last one? It’s a parody newspaper.

Member
Sally

Yes, that was totally wrong! Oh well, it’s finished now…

Congratulations to katy29 I hope you claim in time.

This was a really fun one to play. It’s hard to tell these days what’s real and what’s not. I got most right but not all. I wouldn’t put it past any UK Council to ban you from having your clothes out to dry 😂

I had a good laugh about it.

Guest

Hoping for a spooky one today (to mark Hallowe’en).

Guest

Well, it’s definitely TRUE – but is it a REAL ‘story’ or a HOAX?

Member
DivitLad

put hoax then realised im’ probably wrong lol

Guest

I honestly cannot remember what I put, but I think I opted for real – as a believable jokey story put out by the WHO just to keep them in the public consciousness… or “for the LOLs” as younglings might put it.

god i hope not! (30th)

Nothing wrong with pineapple on pizza, its what pineapples were invented for.

Guest

Start putting fruit on a pizza and you end up with the strawberries-and-cream monstrosity that was available one year during Wimbledon fortnight.

I’m going to miss this game when the month is up – it’s been fun to guess & some of the hoax ones have really made me laugh! 😄

The ‘Odd One Out’ challenge for November sounds more straightforward – although choosing the interloper will be dependent upon correctly identifying what is pictured in each of the quartet of images… and that may not be devoid of difficulty.

Guest

If today’s isn’t real, it should be – pineapple on a pizza is an abomination!

That’s odd from what I saw day 27 is Real.

different location

Regardless of whether today’s is real or a hoax, I did read that bees have been successfully trained to detect explosives, drugs, and even diseases like COVID-19. Such clever little buggers.

Missed yesterday’s. Gutted.

Todays is most amusing

Rapunzel syndrome

Yes I remember a new story about that years ago, the poor child had been eating her hair for a long while.

Member

I wish.

If you can’t dry your laundry in your own garden, where would we go to dry it? They would never dare bring that law in!

Member
STEVEN

Its already law in some countries.

In some rental prowler you’re not allowed to hang washing out on your balcony due to aesthetics! You’re lucky if you have a communal washing line area. It’s still the best way to dry and I do miss my garden! I did own a tumble dryer at one point but I don’t have one now and just use my airers.

Member

I was just going to comment the same thing. My friend can’t put her washing on her balcony because of this reason.

Member
Khadija

I think it was meaning your own back garden. So balconies and front gardens etc may have other rules.

Some people arent allowed to hang out washing near me , it isnt a hoax

Member
hornetcarp

agreed – i put real

Member
Wendy

Yep, i put real too as it mentioned a place when i googled.

Member
Meera

Yep. Where my brother lives, they are not allowed to hang washing outside for aesthetic reasons.

I was wrong about the pets being given to the zoo. I love my cats even when they passed I would not think of giving them to a zoo to feed their animals.

Member
Hilde

I would never do that either. But I did read the original news story when it came out. I knew it was real. Was wondering how many people would show up with a LIVE pet to get rid of them.

Member
Sally

I heard the news story when it was current as well, on the radio – I was surprised but apparently it’s quite common for zoos to receive horses when they come to the end of their useful/healthy lives already! But I think when it’s pets people have an instinctual revulsions to the idea, although in some ways it does seem quite sensible…and though I would have thought feeding live animals to e.g. lions would be quite fun for them and more natural – being able to chase them a bit first! – there are strict rules about it, and any… Read more »

Today’s 20th has to be REAL, there are so many people out there who will have been mad enough to do this

Member
tracy

That’s what I think too but I have been wrong a couple of times on this game.

Member
Jo

This is real I’m afraid, I’m surprised you didn’t hear about it in the news!!

Member
tracy

I got it wrong. As a pet owner I would not give them to a zoo to feed their predators. I love my pets.

Member
DivitLad

Tracy it’s about the person standing in front of a tornado

Member
tracy

I did wonder later on about it being for the tornado, that one I got right, and not the pets for the zoo lol
