Every day you will be given a Halloween or horror-related anagram, and your challenge is to unscramble it and work out the word we are looking for. But there is an extra twist to make this challenge even harder! One letter is missing from every anagram and has been replaced by a pumpkin. You will need to work out the missing letter as well as unscramble the letters to find the correct word. A brand new Halloween anagram challenge awaits you daily.
All you need to do is give us the full unscrambled word, including the missing letter represented by the pumpkin. If you get it right, you will earn 2 entries into the prize draw. Even if your answer is not correct, you will still receive 1 entry just for taking part. Put your anagram-solving skills to the test and see how many spooky words you can uncover. At the end of the month, all entries will be pooled together, and one lucky winner will be drawn at random.
The competition started on 1st October 2026 and runs until the end of the month. The final question will be posted on 31st October 2026, with the winner announced here on 1st November 2026. The winner will then have 24 hours to claim their £10 cash prize. If the prize is not claimed by 11am on 2nd November 2026, it will be forfeited, and no late claims will be accepted.

I have finally got it. After looking at the letters I couldn’t get a word out of my head 🤦🏻♀️. So I left it for a bit and have now worked it out.
I hate it when that happens ChelseaFan, even though you have ruled it out, you can’t stop saying it in your head! 😫

Edit: Oh was it something like cremated? I think I started with that until I realized it had too many Es so I could definitely understand your question in that case!

I would have tried the T or the R first and probably spent a long time on the wrong track, so knowing the first letter helped, thanks Sally 😊
go on wordsmith anagrams – type in the letters and then add a letter each time to see what it comes up with 🙂
