Hollywood Close-Up: Guess The Movie Star – Win £10
Unleash your inner film buff with our movie-themed picture puzzle game that puts your knowledge of cinema’s finest front and centre.
In this exciting challenge, you’ll identify famous actors and actresses in the spotlight. Can you guess the stars that shine the brightest on the silver screen? It’s time to play and see if you’ve got what it takes to be a true cinephile!
If you manage to find the answer that we are looking for, you will receive 2 entries into the draw. If you get it wrong, you will receive 1 entry (just for giving it a try). All entries will be pooled at the end of the month, and one winner drawn at random.
The competition started on 1st April 2025 and runs until the end of the month. The final question will be posted on 30th April 2025, with the winner announced here on 1st May 2025. The winner will then have 24 hours to claim their £10 cash prize. If the prize is not claimed by 11am on 2nd May 2025, it will be forfeited, and no late claims will be accepted.

So I got yesterday’s and the answer is spelt differently as all I can see is his last name is DeNiro and the answer is showing as DeNero. Can I presume we will all get full marks as I can’t find anywhere spelt with the ‘e’

I looked up how to spell his name as I didn’t know and I got De Niro.
All these comps put us in a false sense of security, the first 10 are often easy, no searching, no confirmation needed, bam! Straight in, you press submit with confidence 😊
Then the teens, some of them start to look a bit tricky, even the ones you think you are sure of, you still do a search, trying to find the exact picture for peace of mind. 🤔
Then the twenties, well it starts to go to pot, you are reverse searching, googling, trying to find divine inspiration from the ceiling, it’s complete madness.🤪

If it is a young actor, I have no chance unless I look up actors with the same features. If it is someone older, I have more of a chance, but I still have to look some up as they don’t look like I remember them.
I VERY NEARLY WENT WITH THE WRONG ACTRESS FOR TODAY’S 24TH PICTURE, I WAS JUST NOT 100% SURE ON WHO I THOUGHT IT WAS, SO I DOUBLE CHECKED LOL.
I did too, I have never got these two actresses confused before, but I just couldn’t get her name out of my head. I wonder if we were thinking the same 🤔 I’ll post mine tomorrow.
Which actress did you nearly choose Tracy? My initial thought was Glenn Close, I knew it wasn’t her, but I just couldn’t get her name out of my head. I’m just glad I finally plucked Meryl Streep out of the air.
I was the same with Glenn Close, as they looked very similar, but she was not quite the same, so I looked again and spotted Meryl Streep. It was the same photo as on here.
I had never seen their similarities before, I would say it was the glasses, but neither of them normally wear glasses.
Normally I say to my hubby “doesn’t that look like xxx”? The answer is always “no, it looks nothing like them”, we never see eye to eye, so it’s nice to have some confirmation that my look-a-like sensor is not rubbish 🤪

Yes, he played Iron Man, but he was a bit younger. I think most of the actors I know have all aged since I saw them in a film, which makes me feel old and shows how long it has been since I watched anything.
I knew who today’s actor was without having to look it up, unlike some of the other actors, I had no idea about them, even though they are very well known.
We have a lot more face to look at today and I don’t think we have had a whole neck before. I have found a few quite challenging recently, I was also pleased that this is an easy one.
I have had the same problem, but today’s came straight away. Brilliant actress.

I got today’s the 16th straight away, as I have seen her in many films and think she is brilliant.
I had no idea who it was yesterday, the 14th in the end I just took a guess, oh well at least I got 1 point for effort lol.
I can’t remember who I said it was, but it definitely wasn’t Jennifer Lawrence. I’ve only ever been to the cinema 3 times in my life though, so I’m going to use that as my excuse!
I know who she is, and that photo didn’t look anything like her. I’m not saying that it was a mistake and it was a photo of someone else because sometimes people can look completely different in certain photos.

I think I spelt the name wrong by pressing the wrong key, I saw it just after I pressed submit. I put an N instead of an M.
So easy to do, I’ve done it too in the past. At least you get one entry, i don’t know if they are checked manually, but even a computer check can sometimes account for the odd letter being wrong. 🤞
I’m pretty sure Daniel was asked about this a few months ago, and he said he does actually check them all manually 👍 which I found very impressive (and reassuring lol)!
As long as it is clear who you meant, I don’t think spelling really matters unless it is one of the anagram or missing letters games.
