I can hear today’s song going around in my head lol. A great song.

My gut instinct was wrong with todays (27), I am glad I checked it before answering.

I missed a day again. I have been having a lot of trouble getting on the net. The Wi-Fi keeps going off on my laptop, but I can still use my tablet, which is strange. However, I get blocked from this site whenever I use a different device to log in. I had similar trouble on Wednesday as well. I checked Wednesdays yesterday morning.

Same here

None of them!

Exactly! It was ‘Open Up and Say Ahh’. I still have my copy.

Member
Aileen

Wrong on two counts – “its” should not have an apostrophe in it either 🤭

Member
Jackie

As far as I can see, the answer is a single on their 1988 album. Had to look this one up as I’d never heard of them, not my type of music!

Member
Alison

It’s not mine either, but one did stand out over the other 3.

I just listened to it on YouTube, out of curiosity and I now vaguely recognise it, not what I was expecting from them though, I was expecting someone screaming at me until they made my ears and eyes bleed.

Do we have any Rock fans on here?

Poison are so good. I saw them live a couple of times in the 90s.

The facts supporting most of these questions relate mainly to the US charts. Today’s song No.4 in UK, but No.1 in US. I guess that’s where the quiz came from

Member
Sally

That’s a shame 😕

China lol

Member
Stuart

Well today’s (21.07)is going to cause issues……

I thought I’d double check my answer and I’m not convinced I’ve got the right answer

Member
tracy

I cannot see why it would cause any issues. My husband told me the answer straight away, but I double-checked, and his answer was the only one that came up.

Member
Alison

Yes, I thought of the answer and that was the only one which came up for me. I looked at their discography and they had a no. 2 hit, do you remember it being no. 1 in a different category? Radio 1 and Capital did not always agree and there were other charts and chart shows which had different opinions.

I missed a day again. My excuse is that I went out with my husband.

Member
Alison

I went out with my hubby too! But I didn’t miss yesterday… you must have had a better time than I did. 🤣

Member
Andrew

Where were these songs No.1 hits? It wasn’t in the UK, so what chart are we going by? I know it doesn”t make a difference to the answer, but after the ‘Locomotion’ confusion, we should be going by one specific chart, not different ones depending on where you are in the world.

Member
Alison

After looking it up, they both got to no.1 in the US, but this is not an American site, otherwise today’s date would be 7.18.25. I am so glad it wasn’t the 8.8.25, as that would not have helped my point.

At least this question doesn’t point to the other answers being correct, along with the Locomotion we also had 0 – 1,000 Miles by the Proclaimers.

Member
Hilde

I think Daniel gets this quiz from an American site or something. But it’s okay. Doesn’t make it less fun to do.

Member
DivitLad

Where does it say about No.1’s ? it’s just chart hits

Member
Andrew

It said it in the question about Roxette, which is the question I was referring to.

Member
Paul

The same again with today’s answer, it only reached 7 in the UK.

“Careless Whisper” wasn’t a group’s hit, it was a solo artist

Member
Chris

“Careless Whisper” is a song recorded by English singer-songwriter George Michael. Released as the second single from Wham!’s second studio album Make It Big (1984), it was written by Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, with Michael producing the song.

Member
Jacky

But not sung by “Wham”, sung by George Michael. Call me pedantic if you like…!!…

Member
Paul

That is right but you didn’t copy and paste the next bit; “Although the song was released as part of Make It Big, the single release is credited to either Wham! featuring George Michael (in the United States and several other countries) or solely to George Michael (in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and some nations in Europe).”

Member
hornetcarp

defo no need to google today!!!!

Member
Hilde

You do if you’re not from the UK

Member
tracy

Even though I knew the answer, I still googled it to make sure I was right. I bet there are quite a few that had to look it up.

Member
Sally

Or if you were born in 1987 lol…first one I’ve dared to take a guess at rather than look up though, not been the best topic for me this month!

Member
Sally

Edit: I would SO love to know the reason for the downvote for my above comment…no problem with it in the least, I’m just really curious as to what was in my post that someone took against that much?! 🤣

Member
tracy

I don’t see any problems with the comment you made either.

Member
Sally

It’s just a tad frustrating when someone anonymously downvotes something seemingly innocuous, but doesn’t reply themselves (I don’t just mean my own comments here, it’s the same when it happens to other people)…just leaves you wondering WHY, what was the thinking behind it? 🤔😏

Question 11 answer is wrong it’s 1000. I nearly put 500 but if you double check the lyrics it says I will walk 500 and then walk 500 more making a total of 1000

Member
DivitLad

google Ai agrees

Member
purplevamp

Yes, that’s what I put. 500 + 500 = 1000

Member
Aileen

Absolutely – that’s a standard ‘trick’ question when you’re supposed to put 500 but the correct answer is 1000

Member
Khadija

I put 1000 too..

Member
mecoat

But he didn’t actually walk anywhere, he said he “would”, so the correct answer is actually 0.

Member
Andrew

I was tempted to put 0 as the answer, but decided just to go with the song title.

Member
Alison

If this was a 1% Club question, I would have put 0, but these questions are not designed to trick you, so I put 500.

Member
jan

Surely they walked 500 then 500 more so a total of 1000?

Member
Brian

The lyrics state that they would walk 500 miles and then 500 more, so you’d think that would make 1000, but it states would, not did, so you could also argue they didn’t walk a single mile!

Member
Jackie

I put zero, as the words say ‘I would walk 500 miles’, rather than ‘I did walk 500 miles’. I don’t think they actually walked anywhere!

Member
Stuart

I was thinking the same.

Nobody knows if they actually did or didn’t walk any miles?

Member
ChelseaFan

I also put zero, as the lyrics state I ‘would’ walk 500 miles – meaning they hadn’t walked at all 🤷🏻‍♀️.
The question said ‘did walk’ and not ‘would walk’, so the correct answer is zero.

Member
Paul

Maybe they flew 500 miles, that would’ve been the most practical and sensible solution.

Member
Alison

So the answer could be 500, 1,000 and 0, at least we know they didn’t run anywhere, unlike the person who set this question and has suddenly run home with a migraine. 🏃‍♀️💨

Anyone else having to watch an ad every 24 hours in order to access the site? I don’t mind watching an ad however tonights one was Hatchery Horrors. I don’t want to watch 30 seconds of baby chicks being cruelly mistreated. Pick different ads please.

Member
Hilde

Yes every 24 hrs watch a video ad. Sometimes they are 10 seconds, sometimes 30 seconds. I don’t actually ‘watch’ it. It is playing but I usually look elsewhere until finished. (not navigating away though). Once I had to watch an extremely boring 30 sec ad and after 25 seconds it reloaded and started over three times until it then showed a different ad the 4th time. It utterly annoyed me.

Member
Alison

If the first ad is 30 seconds I click back and Close the ad, rather than Resume. It pops up again, but for me it goes away when I click on it.

If I go to a different page it keeps coming back, but I keep clicking back and closing them until it shows me a 5 second ad, I will happily watch those ones.

Member
Claire

That sounds really upsetting Karen. Thankfully that one hasn’t come up for me yet. I would hate to see it too.

I knew next to nothing about The Rolling Stones

You either know the answer or you don’t and if you don’t you cheat. 😊

Cheat……..

Expand your knowledge you mean 😉

I am so grateful for Google.

I had to look today’s up, I only bought the single!

She’s absolutely fantastic, saw her live at one of her last concerts ever in the UK in February. Not bad for a woman in her 70’s!
