I put no good crying over spilt milk

Member
Khadija

I put don’t cry over spilt milk…

Member
Lostkiwi

Do we have to put the exact answer that Daniel puts to get 2 entries? I put ‘no point crying over spilt milk’ but it means the same 🤷

Member
Khadija

Any clues for today’s? Friday.

Member
DivitLad

means There’s no point in being upset over something that has already happened and can’t be undone

Member
Khadija

Yes. I got it after I saw what was on the floor!

Member
tracy

Thank you for the clue, I had not seen what was on the floor until after I read your clue.

I wrote ‘heading into danger’ I didn’t know this person waas throwing that sign. I thought it was just blowing by the wind.

Member
victoria

If its what I think it is, what is another word for look what is he looking at and what is he waiting for to happen. Hope that helps.

Member
hornetcarp

i’ve never heard of todays!!!

Member
Stuart

Me neither.

I understand what is going on in the picture but can’t think of a phrase that goes with it that I’ve ever heard of

Member
krispii

He’s looking and waiting for something that will not happen.

Member
Alison

Really? Maybe it’s a generation thing, this is the sort of thing that my mum or nan would say.

Thinking about it, I have used it many times, how else would you tell someone to stop anxiously waiting for it/something, time will move much faster if you get on with your life, it will happen when it happens… The phrase is much shorter and to the point, hence the need for this phrase 🥴

Member
Sally

I agree Alison, as I tend to do with most of your comments as it happens 😁 now I’m wondering what generation you are lol – I’m banging the middle of the millennial lot myself (born 1987), you don’t have to answer of course but are you of a similar vintage? There are a lot of old phrases that really don’t stand up to scrutiny when you think about them for 5 seconds in my opinion at least! But this is one that definitely describes a very real phenomenon, even quite literally it pops into my mind if I put… Read more »

Thanks Sally, it is sweet of you to say you agree with my comments, thank you. I am in the middle of Gen X, so a little older than you, but maybe it’s a middle ground thing. 😁 I agree with you, some of these phrases do fall in the category of “what on earth are you talking about”, “Faint heart never won fair lady”, huh? “No use crying over spilt milk”, who has ever done that! ” A bird in the hand is worth two in a bush”, I just feel sorry for these fictitious birds.🐦 I get that… Read more »

Sorry, read the comments before looking at the picture, too late to edit, hopefully no one is going to read this far back in the comments, or it is too obvious to need a clue anyway. I thought this one had already been done. Really, really sorry. 😔

Member
tracy

I read this far back while todays is still up 30th but I had already answered it before reading the comments lol. I think I am older than both you and Sally as I have no idea what age a Gen X is, or is it what kids are calling people of certain ages. I don’t have children so would not know. 🙂

Member
Alison

I think I was gen X long before I knew what I was, lol. It’s around 1965-1980, Millennials are 1981-1996, before us both is the baby boomers which were 1945-1964. What does it mean? I have no idea 🤣

I’m glad I didn’t ruin the quiz for you today Tracy. 😊

Member
Paul

After the answer’s being revealed, I’ve still never heard of it even though I understand what it means.

Member
Hilde

I usually ask Google Gemini for help if I can’t find the answer myself. Sometimes very helpful. For 28th however completely useless. It said: This is a a phrase catcher. And then it explained what a phrase catcher was LOL I put something I thought of myself but pretty sure it’s wrong. Still one ticket.

Member
Jackie

I did not realise he was THROWING the sign. Still don’t think I would have solved it even if I had!

Member
Sally

I’m feeling very stupid now because I DID have throw in my mind (although when I couldn’t think of anything I was trying out catch instead because it wasn’t quite clear which he was doing), but all I could think for the sign was either ‘danger’ or ’emergency’ so never got close to the actual answer! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I wonder if it’s because I’m not a driver – is that a specific meaning for the sign?

I can’t even remember what I put in the end, but it wasn’t right…oh well, still got one point and it’s fun trying 😄

Member
Alison

I have asked AI a few times and I got the same, when I said “yes, I know how to play, so what is the answer described in the picture”, they replied “it’s not a puzzle, it’s an advent”. Which made me think of the phrase – as useful as a chocolate teapot 🤣 I hope that’s not tomorrow’s phrase 🤪

Member
Justin

Day 27 could have been a few things. I don’t think I’m going to get all of these correct. Some are fairly easy others are not. But it gets the brain going. 👍

Member
Alison

As for 28th, my hubby got this and I’m pretty sure he is right. Clue – what does the sign mean and what’s he doing with it. Clue to the meaning of the phrase – to act without considering risks or consequences

Member
tracy

I think I have todays answer right. I was wrong for yesterdays 27th as I didn’t think the answer was the right one.

Member
Alison

Yep, I was wrong yesterday too, not surprising as the picture clue was nonsense. Due to him sweating and the amount of food I put “work up an appetite”, but I had little confidence… at least I knew I was wrong, so I got that right. 😖

.

Member
Wendy

I put to have a plate full, oh well. These last few have been really tricky

Member
Julie

I got it wrong too, it would of helped to have shown someone actually taking a bite

Member
victoria

Thanks for the clues, think I’ve got it.

Member
victoria

Don’t know number 28, any clues much appreciated.

Member
Stuart

I’ve put something.

Based on yesterdays I’m not sure I have the right answer as a lot of these are strange answers based on the pictures

Clue – The Background is key i think

Member
Saintsuzi

What type of weather is it and what sort of sign is it. Then look at what’s he doing with the sign.

Member
Paul

I put tower burger for yesterday’s. Ok so it’s not really a phrase, more of a product but I couldn’t think of anything else.

Member
Lostkiwi

Should have gone with my instinct and put my first answer (the correct one) for the 27th! 😕 Oh well. At least I got a point 😊

Member
Susan

I don’t think the answer from the 27th is actually that relevant to the photo. Some of these answers are very tenuous.

Member
Jackie

I agree. Yesterday I had so many answers to choose from that I can’t now remember what I put! I think I put ‘Supersize me!’ as there was so much food on the plate, but the ‘Eyes’ one, the ‘Bite’ one and a couple of others I can no longer think of were also contenders. Clearly, I’m thinking too hard. One point, and not for the first time!

Member
karenhatters

Stuck too……eating too much phrase?

Member
Stuart

Think about what you think/say when it happens to you if you find some really nice food that you like

Member
Lostkiwi

Does the saying have ‘eyes’ in it? Or is about biting more….? Neither phrase seems to fit but can’t think of anything else 🤔 🤷

Member
Alison

That is what I was thinking, but the eyes are not prominent and the other bit is not shown at all. Maybe the sweating is a clue to another phrase, you may do this in preparation for a meal.

Member
Lostkiwi

Still can’t get it! A more obvious clue please 😁

Member
Justin

I’m not 100% and thinking of an animal when it comes to eating a lot.. I’m sure everyone’s heard someone say it to somebody or about someone. 🐎

Member
tracy

I have put an answer in but am not sure it is the right one, about stuffing.

Member
Stuart

I got it wrong.

I put “eyes bigger than your belly”

Member
GillP

So did I.

Member
Justin

I’m sure everyone’s heard of todays (27th) if i’am right.. I’m thinking of an animal. 🤔

Member
Pamela Hamby

lol well I put big mac

Member
tracy

Any clues for todays 27th as my OH and I have no idea.

Member
Julie

Same as us too

Member
hornetcarp

looks like he’s trying to eat too much

Member
Stuart

He is. Famous proverb

Member
Susan

We’re really struggling too. Just googled food related proverbs and found a page with 81 proverbs and none seemed to fit. 🤔

Member
mollymockford

I put “laughing in the face of death”.

Member
Susan

I think I out smoking at the face of death, oh well at least a point! Some of 5th gear have been a lot tougher than others!
