Every day you will be shown an image that represents a popular saying or phrase, and your challenge is to work out what it is. Some will be instantly recognisable, while others may require a bit of creative thinking. A brand new picture puzzle challenge awaits you daily.
All you need to do is identify the saying or phrase shown in the image. If you get it right, you will earn 2 entries into the prize draw. Even if your answer is not correct, you will still receive 1 entry just for taking part. Find the phrase we are looking for and see if you can solve the puzzle. At the end of the month, all entries will be pooled together, and one lucky winner will be drawn at random.
The competition started on 1st August 2026 and runs until the end of the month. The final question will be posted on 31st August 2026, with the winner announced here on 1st September 2026. The winner will then have 24 hours to claim their £10 cash prize. If the prize is not claimed by 11am on 2nd September 2026, it will be forfeited, and no late claims will be accepted.

I got 29 wrong. I put doing time in prison although I knew it wasn’t totally right. English as a second language is hard for these things. I would never think of ‘in the nick of time’

I put exactly the same, couldn’t make it out but for the sake of putting an answer in it seemed like they were ‘doing’ as in getting one over on because they seem to be stealing from the word above, if that was the name of the building or something..??
I actually think Pamela Hamby’s answer is far better than the one given! But it was definitely a tricky one, and I bet there were a wide variety of answers (and any one of them could have been pretty much correct 🙄)

It looks like a tricky one and some of you are stuck or have multiple answers, I know what I think it is, so here are some clues for you to ponder –
Clue: Slow down and wait a minute.
Cryptic Clue: Grip equine trio to pause.
Wordplay Clue: The tablet is doing the heavy lifting, but you still need to be patient.
Let me know if you think I’m wrong.
Went a different way but reading this think I may be wrong. I thought the arm belonged to a waiter, and they are serving 3 of something.
The more I look at it Darren, the less I am sure about my answer, but I can’t work out what you have put, so please let me know tomorrow.
If that were a dish, I am thinking of a rhyming 3 word phrase, but the device aspect has me somewhat confused.
I thought of the right answer. but discounted it as nothing was actually holding those horses.
I went for ‘Bank Balance’, as the hand is balancing the tray/tablet etc., and the black horses signify ‘Bank’ to me! I thought I was being quite clever, and it was an interesting answer, so I used it.
The first thing I thought was Lloyds bank, but I never thought of bank balance, you are so right, that is quite clever, it’s really thinking outside of the box, or in other words, thinking Day 1.😁

I went with horses for courses due to the waiter’s hand. About 1am this morning I was reading my book and the phrase hold your horses came up and I immediately knew I’d put the wrong answer. 🤦♀️
That’s exactly what I was thinking Susan when I said the rhyming one, but them being on a tablet instead of a platter confused me. But in all honesty, even with Hold Your Horses, why are they standing on a tablet???

Thanks not what I would of thought with the stars lol but it was what I was thinking earlier 🙂
The stars rating shows that late is better than never. When you are at school you would get 5 stars if you did well and 1 star for effort for example. Hope that helps as I was confused at first.
Wow! You got stars in school, I am going to guess you didn’t go to school in the 80s, I remember once my two friends who sat in front of me were told to stop turning around, but they did once more so the teacher taped their mouths shut for the rest of the lesson.
So we didn’t have Stars, duct tape, but no Stars. I can still see my friend’s wide eyes in disbelief with big silver tape from nose to chin. 🤣 I did feel guilty thought, it was me talking which made them turn around. 🤣

Clue: I am always innocent, yet everyone points their finger at me when things go wrong.

The cryptic clue was “mix up” paces (scape) & toga (goat) to find someone who takes the fall = scapegoat. 😊
Thb, I don’t understand them very much, unless I can see an anagram, then I will drive myself mad until I get it. But writing them is different because knowing the answer makes it much easier. 🤣
