The 31 Day May Missing Letters Challenge

This month we are having a completely different challenge.  Many of you will be familiar with the game show ‘Wheel of fortune’ where you have to guess a word or phrase where some of the letters are missing.  That is the basis of this months challenge.  Each day in May a different word or phrase will be displayed below. However, it will be missing several letters.  You just need to work out what the full word should be and submit your answer.  If you manage to guess the correct word/phrase correctly you will receive 2 entries into the draw.  If you get it wrong you will receive 1 entry (just for giving it a try). All entries will be pooled at the end of the month and one winner drawn at random.
The competition started on 1st May 2018 and runs until the end of the month. The last one will be shown on 31st May 2018, with the winner being announced here on 1st June 2018 at 11am.  The winner will then have 24 hours to claim their £10 cash prize.

So far i have only got one wrong…the grandma/grandpa one. All the rest have just somehow appeared in my mind as soon as ive looked at them…i do love me a missing letters quiz 😊 cant wait to see whats in store for next month

Guest

I put Band Manager yesterday… 🙁 Can’t believe was 1 letter out… 2 points for initiative..? 😉

Sally
Member
Sally

IMO you should get both points for that, really – it fits the letters and is also legitimate answer, even if it wasn’t the one the question intended! It’s an automatic process though, so probably not possible now even if Daniel agreed… 😕

Guest

I put that too. At least I wasn’t the only one.

Tracy
Member
Tracy

Yup
That’s what I put too!!
I wasn’t going to say anything though just in case I was the only one…
Obviously not ☺🤣🤣
I think our answer is way cooler than the correct answer anyway lol
Would be nice to get 2 points though since it is an occupation and it did fit the anagram!
Good luck with the rest of them ☺ T.x

Guest

Hazel used always accept answers like this if they were relevant. Same with grandma/grandpa.

I put this as well, glad I’m not the only one!

I’m beginning to wonder if I’m the only one who *DID* in fact answer it with ‘bank’..!! 🤣😋

Aileen

I put “Bank” too. In fact, when I first saw all the comments, my first thought was “What on earth’s a Band Manager?” Sign of age, obviously!!!! Perhaps it’s a generation thing which one you go for???

I got yesterdays eventually, 😂, todays is one of my favourites.

Its so amazing…the human brain is…so strange how just by seeing a word with missing letters it automatically allows you to see the word in full…its like auto type happens in your brain lol

Phew that was hard. Wrote something down that fitted, but i had never heard the phrase….then looked at it again and found a better word, so hopefully i’ve got it right.

I SO wanted to put “Chocolate Bike” yesterday but managed to avoid the temptation, lol. No more use than a choccy teapot but bigger so more to eat!

I nearly put grandpa as my son calls one of his grandparents grandpa, but someone put we had this last month so I opted for Grandma

David
Member
David

I guessed the right one yesterday but for those who put grandpa instead of grandma, surely you have to give them that one 😉

Jackie
Member
Jackie

I put Grandpa, as I had two of these, but no grandmas, as they were both Nannys! As the clue did not specify a sex, both answers are correct, and should count as such. Hope Daniel sees it this way!

Christine Carter
Member

Can’t believe I got yesterday’s so wrong, feel an idiot now! Daren’t reveal what I put, hope the wrong answers are never published! I’ll deny it was me!

Stuart

Surely it could be GRANDPA as well??

Elsee

I’ve never heard anyone use grandpa in the UK but I see below it’s quite popular in Scotland

allicat
Member
allicat

I had a grandpa and a grandma, and on the other side a grandad and a granny. It helped distinguish who we were talking about. I’m from a west country background.

Guest

I do the same. I have a Gran, Grandma and Nan lol

Tracy

Thank goodness I got it right!!

Think which one we would use in the UK is probably the answer. I would never use the other one.

Don’t they both originate from the U.K.?
Or have I got it totally wrong?!? T.x

Today’s clue isn’t for a film; it was a book first by a long way so perhaps either list both as categories if the same thing happens again in future?!

Ruskin
Member
Ruskin

Fair point but it isn’t actually wrong to say that it was a film so you could say that is all part of the challenge when giving both categories would perhaps make it easier

Emily
Member
Emily

I agree that putting both would make it easier, but feel that for integrity if they’re going to pick one category it should be the book as that came first! It seems a bit patronising to assume we would only know the movie…

Wendy
Member
Wendy

Yes its a book too, but I know it as a very very long film 😁

Wendy
Member
Wendy

Also, would like to add. A lot of films, where books first, thats how a lot of films are made, based on the books, and they cut alot out of the films.

Guest

this is a good competition every one will enjoy
