The 31 Day October Quiz Challenge

Due to popular demand this month I am returning with a quiz. I’m sure like last time some of the questions will know straight away, with others taking a little more time to work out – and even have you go searching for the answer. Each day in October a new question will be displayed below. If you manage to answer a question correctly you will receive 2 entries into the draw. If you get the question wrong you will receive 1 entry (just for giving it a try). All entries will be pooled at the end of the month and one winner drawn at random.
The competition started on 1st October 2017 and runs until the end of the month. The last question will be shown on 31st October 2017, with the winner being announced here on 1st November 2017. The winner will then have 24 hours to claim their £10 cash prize, so be sure to check back.

I submitted my answer but unfortunately predictive text stuck a 2 on the end of my answer. am I able to resubmit?

Ruskin

I so want to just answer “a number” today because…well…it IS! Lol

Aileen

Think I need some new glasses! I counted the number of SUNdays on the calendar instead of Mondays! I even counted twice because I’d expected the answer to be 5. What an idiot!

Maybe question 13 should have been how many vowels in the word “ambiguous”? 😉

Simone Walker

I have to disagree with the answer of 6 to the question “How many vowels are there in the word ‘advantageous’”. As I said 4 because only 4 vowels appear, as ‘A’ appears 3 times, as your question was ambiguous to the interpretation

liverpoolgirl

I agree. I hedged my bets by saying a total of 6 but only 4 different ones.

Hollie

Sorry I have to disagree with you, there are 6 vowels in the word ‘advantageous’. If the question was ‘how many different vowels are in the word advantageous’ I could see how it would be 4.

If the question was ‘how many letters in the word advantageous’ would you have said 12 or 10?

🦋I’m with you Hollie, I took it to read “ how many vowels are in the word ‘ advantageous ‘ “ ?? NOT “ how many DIFFERENT vowels are in the word ‘ advantageous ‘ “ and IF anyone is unsure then ASK someone here as there is always someone hanging around here who will be more than willing to help. IF by chance, you don’t get an answer ( which I’m sure you will.), then put BOTH your answers on the same entry form ( as liverpoolgirl has done ) and explain why you’ve reached that answer.🦋

Is today’s question including or excluding jokers?

Andrew

Two possible answers today, I just know that whichever I go for will be the wrong one!

Hollie

Confused as to how there are 2 possible answers! Hope I’ve got it right now.

There are 6 vowels but only 5 different ones

Jo

Four different ones

Ruskin

Not sure if this was a trick question, hoping that my answer covered all bases! 🙂

🦋 I’d never live it down if I didn’t know today’s answer as 1 of my big sisters lives in that country ! ☺️🦋

Ruskin

Love these quizzes…worth putting a short reminder of the questions before the answer though? (E.g. “pink and white”, “usa flag”, “power twins”, etc). Dunno if thats changed cos having the whole question there made it too long or not.

🦋 well, given my mixed parentage I definitely knew today’s answer so far so good I should have all the answers correct to date, if not then I’ll wanna know why Daniel !! 😜😉😂🦋

Mixed parentage? Do you mean one man and one woman?! JK (as I’m sure you know) 😀

Oops I think I missed yesterdays question. Oh well

I have the same trouble. I use an ‘aol.com’ email address and there is an ongoing issue with them not forwarding messages in a timely manner. I’ve had Tuesday’s reminder arrive in my inbox on Thursday!. I’m not sure where it gets held up but I definitely need to set myself up a reminder because I forget to log in without FBL’s email

Carl

I never rely on email reminders, have a list of the lottery sites on my favourites whereby the first one is my homepage. Almost impossible to forget!

Angelicalish

As long as the site is on my favourites I go through them but its been a taxing week so forgetting what I have done lol. How about setting a phone alarm reminder?

According to Google ‘voice of Europe’ is a news page.

Heather10

I’ve answered but not sure it’s correct, I found someone whose songs won 3 times (2 X this person as singer, 1 X as songwriter). If it’s not correct then no idea as no record however I word the question on google

Ruskin

Voice of Europe? Joey Tempest surely? 😉

Santamaria

Haha, I remember Europe. “We’re heading for Venus, maybe they’ve seen us”. Eat your heart out Bob Dylan!

Ruskin

Remember??? They haven’t given up yet! It was always a worry what “Venus” could rhyme with…. Lol

Santamaria

I hadn’t thought of that, I’ve obviously led a sheltered life! I’m going to go and google JT now, see if the years have been kind.

Ruskin

Or using their knuckles. I have only just found that one out a few years ago. For those who don’t know make a fist. Starting from either your little finger or your fore finger is January the dip is February, March is the next knuckle and so on when you get to July you then count August on the same knuckle and then continue. All the knuckles are 31 days the dips are 30 of course except February which is 28 or 29. Nice easy visual reminder although I still use the rhyme. 😊
